Nicola paints using oil or mixed media on paper, canvas or wood. She paints on the floor, moving around the canvas to inject her brushstrokes and marks with as much energy as possible. The subject matter is people and the spaces between. Keeping an immediacy in the work means that the painting process is haphazard. But the one that works has an almost meditative charge to it.
